Determination of Prakriti based on Tridosha and Triguna

Prakriti is a dynamic combination of tridoshas and trigunas. There are totally 7 Prakritis or body types
  1. Vata Prakriti: In this body type vata is predominant along with pitta and kapha. Among trigunas Rajas and Sattva gunas are present in which Rajas guna is in predominance.
  2. Pitta Prakriti: As the name indicates, pitta is predominant in pitta prakriti person along with vata and kapha. Among trigunas Sattva and Rajas gunas are present in which Sattva is in predominance.
  3. Kapha Prakriti: Here kapha is the predominant dosha along with vata and pitta. Sattva and Tamas gunas are present where tamas is in predominance.
  4. Vata-Pitta Prakriti: Vata and pitta dosha are predominant and sattva & rajas gunas are present as mental traits.
  5. Vata-Kapha Prakriti: This body type is a combination of vata and kapha dosha and all the 3 gunas.
  6. Pitta-Kapha Prakriti: Here it is a combination of pitta & kapha and all 3 gunas.
  7. Vata-Pitta-Kapha Prakriti: This prakriti has all the tridoshas and trigunas.

Thus by the above description we can understand that panchamahabhootas are the basic elements of tridosha and trigunas. And these both are intrinsically interdependent on each other and responsible for prakriti of a person, which helps in diagnosis in various diseases. This relation guides us as to analyze a prakriti and keep the doshas and gunas in balance, which in turn helps, in a healthy life.
