Three Types of Ayurvedic Treatment-Mental Diseases
1. Daivavyapasraya (Divine therapy or Treatment by faith).
2. Yukthivyapasraya (scientific therapy or treatment upon reasoning).
3. Sattvavajaya (Psycho therapy – treatment by self control).
Six Types of Ayurvedic Treatment
1. Pranayama -- breathing exercises. Practicing pranayama helps you feel calm.
2. Abhyanga -- rubbing the skin with herbal oil to increase blood circulation and draw toxins out of the body through the skin.
3. Rasayana -- using mantras (repeated words or phrases) during meditation combined with certain herbs to rejuvenate a person.
4. Yoga -- combining pranayama, movement, and meditation. Yoga has been shown to improve circulation and digestion, and to reduce blood pressure, cholesterol levels, anxiety, and chronic pain.
5. Pancha karma -- cleansing the body to purify it and reduce cholesterol. Practitioners use methods that cause sweat, bowel movements, and even vomit to cleanse the body of toxins.
6. Herbal medicines -- prescribing herbs to restore dosha balance.

Triguna and Panchamahabhoota Relation
Determination of Prakriti based on Tridosha and Triguna
Prakriti is a dynamic combination of tridoshas and trigunas. There are totally 7 Prakritis or body types
Thus by the above description we can understand that panchamahabhootas are the basic elements of tridosha and trigunas. And these both are intrinsically interdependent on each other and responsible for prakriti of a person, which helps in diagnosis in various diseases. This relation guides us as to analyze a prakriti and keep the doshas and gunas in balance, which in turn helps, in a healthy life.

Triguna and Panchamahabhoota Relation
- Sattva guna has aakash mahabhooth (space) in predominance along with agni mahabhooth (fire) and Aap mahabhooth (water).
- Rajas guna has vayu mahabhooth (air) in predominance along with Agni mahabhooth (fire).
- Tamas guna has prithvi mahabhooth (earth) in predominance along with water.
- Tridosha and Panchamahabhoota Relation
- Vata is a combination of Aakash mahabhooth (Space), Vayu mahabhooth (Air).
- Pitta is predominantly Agni mahabhooth (fire).
- Kapha is a combination of Aap mahabhooth (water) and Prithvi Mahabhooth (earth).
- Vata is a combination of Rajas and Sattva gunas, but is still considered as Rajas due to its predominance.
- Pitta is a combination of Sattva and Rajas but is said to be more Sattva due to its predominance.
- Kapha is a combination of Tamas, Satva gunas but due to predominance of Tamas it is referred to as Tamas.
Determination of Prakriti based on Tridosha and Triguna
Prakriti is a dynamic combination of tridoshas and trigunas. There are totally 7 Prakritis or body types
- Vata Prakriti: In this body type vata is predominant along with pitta and kapha. Among trigunas Rajas and Sattva gunas are present in which Rajas guna is in predominance.
- Pitta Prakriti: As the name indicates, pitta is predominant in pitta prakriti person along with vata and kapha. Among trigunas Sattva and Rajas gunas are present in which Sattva is in predominance.
- Kapha Prakriti: Here kapha is the predominant dosha along with vata and pitta. Sattva and Tamas gunas are present where tamas is in predominance.
- Vata-Pitta Prakriti: Vata and pitta dosha are predominant and sattva & rajas gunas are present as mental traits.
- Vata-Kapha Prakriti: This body type is a combination of vata and kapha dosha and all the 3 gunas.
- Pitta-Kapha Prakriti: Here it is a combination of pitta & kapha and all 3 gunas.
- Vata-Pitta-Kapha Prakriti: This prakriti has all the tridoshas and trigunas.

Satwika Subtype Qualities
Brahma
|
Free from passion, anger, greed, ignorance or jealousy, possessing knowledge and the power of discrimination.
|
Arsha
|
Excellent memory, purity, love and self -control, excellent intellectual frame of mind, free from pride, ego, ignorance, greed or anger. Possessing the power of understanding and retention.
|
Anidra
|
Devotion to sacred books, study rituals and oblations. Devotion to virtuous acts, far- sightedness and courage. Authoritative behaviour and speech. Able to perform sacred rituals.
|
Yamya
|
Free from mean and conflicting desires and acts. Having initiative, excellent memory and leadership. Free from emotional binds, hatred, ignorance and envy. The capacity for timely action.
|
Varuna
|
Free from mean acts. Exhibition of emotion in proper place. Observance of religious rights.
|
Kabera
|
Courage, patience, and hatred of impure thoughts. Liking for virtuous acts and purity. Pleasure in recreation.
|
Gandharva
|
Possession of wealth, attendants and luxuries. Expertise in poetry, stories and epics. Fondness for dancing singing and music. Takes pleasure in perfumes, garlands and flowers. Full of passion.

Pitta dominated Rajasikas, intellectually oriented but vulnerable to temptations, are very human in their character and approach to life.
Rajasika Subtype Qualities
Asura
|
Indulgence in self-praise, bravery, cruelty, envy and ruthlessness. Terrifying appearance.
|
Raksasa
|
Excessive sleep and indolence. Envious disposition. Constant anger, intolerance, and cruel behaviour. Gluttonous habits.
|
Paisala
|
Unclean habits. Cowardly, with a terrifying disposition. Gluttonous habits. Fondness for the opposite sex. Abnormal diet and regimen.
|
Sarpa
|
Sharp reactions. Excessive indolance. Frequent fearful disposition. Brave or cowardly attitude depending on situations.
|
Praita
|
Excessive desire for food. Envious character. Excessive greediness and actions without discrimination.
|
Sakuna
|
Full of passion. Unsteadiness, ruthlessness, and excessive attitude for food.
|
A dominant Vata ensures that Tamasika individuals are the most down to earth, concerned about fundamental questions of practical existence, specially when confronted by more spiritual and less physical issues.
Tamasika Subtype Qualities
Pasava
|
Lack of intelligence, forbidding dispositions, envious nature. Excessive sexual indulgence and sleep.
|
Matsya
|
Unsteadiness, constant passion, and cowardice. Excessive desire for water intake.
|
Banaspatya
|
Indolence. Excessive indulgence in food. Deficiency of intellectual faculties.
